Trinity Faith Cross
$ 176.00
The Irish Celtic Cross has been a symbol of faith for centuries in Ireland whether the belief is pagan, Christian or another religion. However it is most widely known as a powerful symbol of Irish heritage. Originally crafted in stone Celtic crosses predate Christianity and in pagan times the circle of the cross represented the sun. Christian philosophers adapted the Celtic cross and taught the meaning of the circle to represent Christ, the centre of Christianity.
The Triquetra predates Christianity and was the Celtic symbol of the Goddess Odin. The symbol decorates our illuminated manuscripts such as The Book of Kells and is found on Celtic crosses and Celtic stones all around the country. The Trinity Knot has been adopted from ancient Celtic art by Christianity as a symbol of the Holy Trinity; Father, Son & Holy Spirit. To the Celts it is believed to have meant many things; mind, body, spirit; earth, sea and sky and beginning, middle and end – continuity. The Trinity Knot is the most well known and loved of all Celtic knots and in modern times has been given as a token of promise; to love, to honour and to protect.
This contemporary cross is in polished sterling silver and has at its center the addition of the much loved Trinity Knot in 18K yellow gold. The shaft is inscribed with the word ‘faith’ in the Celtic Ogham alphabet.
